March Madness!

...That's what I've been experiencing for the past several weeks, starting about the middle of February. As you've probably already noticed, we've cut back some on the M-Friends events lately. This has been caused by several things. Some of us have been tied up with other things in our lives (work, school, other social obligations,  you name it). But, that's no reason why someone else can't plan an event. I'll be there if at all possible and I'm sure most other M-Friends will too.

We do have a great party lined up for March -- the Greeen Toga Party at Ben's house. You don't have to wear a toga, though. The party just fell between St. Patrick's day and the Ides' of March so the name seemed appropriate. I hope to see you all there -- with or without toga!

The Birmingham RG is the first weekend in April and if you don't attend any other event, you need to make plans to go to this. The Birmingham group is known for their great hospitality and this RG is going to be the best RG of 2008. If you're interested in sharing a ride or a room, contact me (trisha1832@gmail.com). Tell me your preferences (smoking/non-smoking, need a ride/share a ride, male/female roommate, etc.) and I'll try to put matching requirements together.

We've got two U of M-Friends events planned for April, both gardening related. If the free vegetable seedlings don't get you there, I hope one or both of these will pique your interest enough to attend. If you've got experience in something you think others would be interested, why not plan your own U of M-Friends event. Crafts, hobbies, home maintenance/construction, all make great mini sessions.

April has many other special days which could be a good reason to have an M-Friends get-together. Just pick one. April is Frog Month, Garden Month, Guitar Month and Humor Month. The second week of April is Library Week and the 3rd week is National Wildlife Week. Other special April days include:

April 1 – April Fools Day
April 4 -- Bonza Bottler Day
April 4 – Star Trek was cancelled by NBC (1969)
April 6 – The Hostess Twinkie was sold for the 1st time in the US (1931) and Swanson introduced the first TV dinner (1954)
April 7 – World Health Day
April 12 Look Up at the Sky Day
April 14 – Titanic hits iceberg shortly before midnight on April 14 causing the ship to sink at 2:2- AM on April 15
April 15 – Rubber Eraser Day
April 15 – Income Tax Day
April 19 – Garlic Day
April 20 – Look Alike Day
April 20 – National Pineapple Upside Down Day
April 27 – Tell a Story Day
April 29 – Zipper Day (the zipper was patented by Gideon Sindback, 1913)
