November 5 @ 3:00 PM – Greece
: Secrets of the Past, at the Imax Theater, 3050 Central Ave (at Pink
Palace Museum). This is "the story of a 21st century Greek archeologist uncovering the society of his ancient ancestors, a society that still astounds the world today with its ideas, inventions and achievements. Set in the beautiful Greek Isles, the film merges a contemporary archeological "detective story" with some of the most advanced digital re-creations ever for IMAX, with scenes that restore such centuries-old spectacles as the original Parthenon and the volcanic eruption that buried Santorini in 1646 BC. The film's narrator is Nia Vardalos, the Greek American actress who wrote and starred in the romantic comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
" Afterwards, we'll decide on someplace to grab a bite to eat. RSVP

Dear Fellow Mensans,
Sister Marcia is a genius, but you knew that, too, didn't you? She was 100% right in her predictions that everyone would have a wonderful time last night. As a matter of fact, Susan's Halloween party was such a smash that Sister Marcia never even opened her bag of psychic goodies she had stashed in the dining room. She was afraid she'd miss some of the fun and failed to give a single reading even though she allowed mortal Marcia to wear her magic psychic Gypsy earrings. She had brought along her crystal bowl and fortune telling accouterments but will save them for next year, as she predicts she will be back. Plus, Sister Marcia likes writing the word accouterments.
Susan was a stunning witch and Sister Marcia predicts many more fun events with you presiding as hostess with the mostest. Wtg, hug lady!
Trisha, the social Lepidoptera, flitted about all evening ensuring all the other perhaps less social insects laughed and were entertained. Boy howdy,
Trisha!
Dolyn surprised even Sister Marcia by turning out to be the evening's best dancer. Although in Mensa, that's kind of like saying someone's the sanest monkey in the zoo. :-)
Dial & Terry were, as always, the couple with the most interesting stories. Dial's quite the joke teller, too. Terry's singing was appreciated as usual, as we especially enjoyed her rendition of "Ooh eee, ooh ah ah, ting, tang, walla walla bing bang." Only in this group would knowing every single word of that song NOT be considered odd.
Suzanne was the beautiful teeny bopper ready to tear up the dance floor in her bobby socks. Sister Marcia can see many things, but she fails to see why such a treasure was dateless on a Saturday night. What are you guys waiting for? She's hosting next Saturday night's games night. HInt, hint.
Sherry batted her beautiful baby blues in her biker babe outfit, while stunning Cassie won the evening's top honor for the costume contest. Cassie and Susan's son Nathan are in our crosshairs as future recruits.
Gary Wagoner came, left, and came back with Beverly and his guitar. Sister Marcia knows that everyone is aware that Gary is a talented hoot. Last night he came costumed as an old coot hoot. Beverly told us of her visits to Graceland and hanging on to Elvis as he drove her around on his motorcycle.
Jami was a 12th century monk whose research and story behind his costume was fascinating and a source for much lively conversation as only this group can have so much opinion on and knowledge of. Sheesh, diagram THAT sentence! Oh, Lord, I predict that one of you will actually try. (Nerds and proud of it!)
Brian was the brave semi-neophyte, attending his 3rd M-Friends event in about as many weeks. He has jumped right in hugging and telling jokes with the rest of us. If we haven't scared him off by now, Sister Marcia predicts he'll be around for quite a while. Brian's new ideas and perspectives are a welcome and refreshing shot in the arm.
Dick was a bit under the weather but performed his usual good service of saving the rest of the world from the evils of good beer by downing as much of it as he possibly could. Thank you, Dick, for your years of dedicated service to mankind and hops farmers worldwide.
I know I've left some people out and have intentionally left some stories out, as I have yet to make blackmail arrangements with certain attendees. Suffice it to say that everyone had a great time but that's all I can remember right now. Marcia is pretty much a teetotaler, but Sister Marcia decided to try some of Trisha's black tequila last night and wants to go back down for a nap.
